Food Pantry Volunteer Opportunities
Food Pantry Shopper
The Food Pantry team interacts directly with clients. After staff members check in a client, volunteers assist with grocery selection, escort the client to the Clothing Closet and/or Anytime Food Room, and help transport groceries to the client’s vehicle when needed. Additional tasks include weighing donations, sorting and stocking inventory, and performing general cleanup and organization of the Food Pantry.
Greeter
The Greeter role is responsible for welcoming all guests who enter our doors. Greeters offer assistance, provide guests with Food Pantry or Anytime Food Room tickets, and alert other team members that a guest has arrived. This is mainly a sitting position. Feel free to bring a book.
Anytime food room shopper/stocker
The Anytime Food Room is where our daily rescued food is made available to guests. Responsibilities include stocking shelves and refrigerators, checking in guests by zip code, guiding them through the process (including setting limits), and keeping the room and back storage area clean and organized. This position involves direct client interaction.
Grocery Transporter
The Grocery Transporter role involves taking a client’s groceries from downstairs out to the parking lot and into the client’s vehicle to complete a dignified shopping experience. This position will also help with inventory, recycling, general clean-up, and shelf stocking.
