Providing Hunger Relief

The WayPoint Resources Food Pantry’s mission is to provide nutritious food and household items to meet the short-term needs of clients living in Dallas County, the Waukee Community School District or with approval from our partner churches.

The majority of our Food Pantry items are graciously donated by local churches, organizations, businesses, and members of our community. Distribution is based on availability and family size.

Registered clients can visit once each calendar month to receive a week’s supply of groceries and other household essentials. Typical items include meat, milk, eggs and other pantry staples as well as personal hygiene products (based upon availability).

Current Food Pantry Services

Our Food Pantry is open for client shopping inside during regular hours.  If you prefer to stay in your vehicle, call us at (515) 987-5523 and a volunteer will prepare a pre-packaged supply of food based on family size and deliver it to your vehicle.

First-Time Visitors

First-time visitors to our Food Pantry will go through a brief check-in process. After approval, clients can shop at the Food Pantry once each calendar month for about a week’s worth of groceries. All conversations and services provided at WayPoint Resources are confidential.

Please follow the guidelines below to ensure we can meet your needs.

  • Clients must live in Dallas County or Waukee Community School district.
  • Bring identification for each member of the household (including children).
  • Bring proof of residency (utility bill or rental lease agreement).
  • Please bring your own reusable bags to help us put more money towards food.

Anytime Food Room

Our Anytime Food Room is separate from our Food Pantry and includes food and other items acquired through our food rescue program. It provides clients with another opportunity for additional food outside of our Food Pantry. Food items vary but typically include bread, pastries, produce, sandwiches, and other shelf-stable items.

Anyone can visit our Anytime Food Room one time per day during regular open hours.

Please bring your own personal bags for the Anytime Food Room. We do not have bags available.

Growing Healthy: The Fruitful Vine Garden

Located on the grounds of Westview Church in Waukee, The Fruitful Vine Garden was started in 2009 to provide fresh produce to clients of WayPoint Resources.  The garden is a collaborative effort of volunteers, including individuals, families, community groups, and members of the Dallas County Master Gardeners Program. We take pride in growing a variety of chemical-free produce onsite including tomatoes, peppers, beans, potatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, kale, lettuce, onions and beets.

How to Receive Assistance

During the growing season, registered clients are eligible to visit the garden once a week to receive a “share” of fresh produce based on availability. To visit the garden for fresh produce, clients must show a seasonal garden card, provided at check-in at the Food Pantry.
